Our passion is Cycling, whether it be Road cycling, Touring and Leisure, MTB, Gravel or Cyclo-Cross. The staff themselves are keen, regular cyclists from the Bolton area who can give advice and help at all levels.
The Green Machine Bike Shop first opened in 1991 in Horwich (Bolton) and has since become an established and well respected bike shop, known for quality advice, sales and repairs.

About Green Machine
Bike Shop Limited
John Spencer conceived and ran the business from its inception until the summer of 2022, when unfortunately osteoarthritis in his hands prevented him from working on bikes any longer. John was an avid promoter of cycling within the local community and was involved with many local clubs and events, including Horwich's Festival of Racing. In 2002 John was also involved with the very successful Commonwealth Games XC mountain Bike course in the local Rivington area. With more than 30 years involved in local cycling, John has seen many customers grow from children to adults with their own children. John has also had the privilege to work with National Champions bikes, as well as bikes of the Olympic Development Squad.
Neal Taylor then took over the reins, as one of those childhood customers who became an adult with children of his own. Neal hopes to expand the business, and for it to continue to grow as a cornerstone in the local community. With intentions to turn the store into a real cycling hub for all types of riders, focusing on delivering real value to its customers, with quality components, bikes and accessories as well as top quality repairs. Neal’s background in cycling comes from a childhood on two wheels exploring the local hills, and spending his late teens and student years working in numerous bicycle stores, whilst working towards and gaining a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering. However during 20 years of working in Manufacturing, Automotive, FMCG and Project Management his love for bikes never waned and when the opportunity to take over a well-respected bike shop presented itself, he felt confident that he would be able to take on the challenge and to build on John’s incredible legacy.
